In a surprising turn of events, less than 24 hours before the scheduled debut of GTA VI’s first trailer, an account, now suspended, prematurely shared the footage on X (formerly Twitter).
The official release was slated for Tuesday, December 5th, at 9 AM ET. However, Rockstar reacted promptly by releasing the trailer on its official YouTube channel.

The trailer affirms previously revealed details about GTA VI, including the Vice City setting and the introduction of the series’s first female protagonist, engaging in a storyline inspired by Bonnie and Clyde.
Notably, the trailer unveils a 2025 release date, as specified in Rockstar’s press release on Monday. The game is confirmed for release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in that year.
A decade in the making, GTA VI’s first trailer exceeds expectations, offering glimpses of the anticipated Vice City environment. The trailer follows the franchise’s established themes, showcasing fast cars, intense gunplay, substantial amounts of ill-gotten wealth, and an overarching atmosphere of American-flavored hedonism.
The spotlight of the trailer is on Lucia, the primary protagonist. The narrative appears to revolve around Lucia, initially seen in a prison jumpsuit, engaging in criminal activities with her boyfriend post-release.
Rockstar’s press release provides a concise overview of the game. “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The pre-release journey of GTA VI has been marked by leaked information, with a UK teenager held responsible for a substantial leak last year. Additionally, a recent TikTok video claimed to feature leaked footage from the game, purportedly from a Rockstar employee’s child.
These leaks, though available on TikTok at the time of publishing, add to the anticipation surrounding GTA VI’s highly awaited release.
