Renowned model Gigi Hadid faced legal trouble when she was arrested in the Cayman Islands for alleged marijuana possession, along with her friend, influencer Leah Nicole McCarthy. The charges involved the importation of marijuana and paraphernalia, after a search of their luggage upon arrival from the US on July 10.
During the incident, a small quantity of marijuana was found and recovered. Hadid’s representative clarified that she had legally purchased the marijuana in New York City with a valid medical license. Medical use of marijuana has been legal in Grand Cayman since 2017.

Both women were released on bail after the arrest at Owen Roberts International Airport and later pleaded guilty. They were fined approximately $1,200, but no official conviction was recorded by the border authorities.
Despite the legal issues, Hadid continued to share moments of her beach and ocean adventures on Instagram after the incident, expressing “All’s well that ends well” in one of her captions.
