As the new moon wasn’t seen on Monday after Maghrib prayers, Muslims in Saudi Arabia and nearby regions will fast for one more day, completing 30 days of Ramadan. Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

Around 1.9 billion Muslims exist globally, making up about 25 percent of the world’s population. Indonesia has the highest Muslim population, followed by Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Nigeria.

Traditionally, Eid lasts three days and is a public holiday in Muslim-majority countries, though the length of the holiday varies.

On Eid, Muslims attend a prayer service in the morning followed by a sermon. They spend the day visiting relatives and neighbors, exchanging sweets, and offering Eid greetings.

The most common greetings are “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid) or “Eid Sa’id” (Happy Eid), but there are variations depending on language and country.

Below, you’ll find Eid greetings in 14 different languages in the video and pictures.
