The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is gearing up for the upcoming general elections in February 2024.
In preparation, the ECP has appointed Returning Officers (ROs), District Returning Officers (DROs), and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) for 859 constituencies.
Notifications have been issued to these officials, who will oversee the electoral process.
The Islamabad deputy commissioner has been appointed as the DRO for the federal capital.
Additionally, 36 DROs have been appointed for National Assembly and provincial assembly seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 41 in Punjab, 30 in Sindh, and 36 in Balochistan.
For National Assembly seats, 266 Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers have been selected.
In a related move, the ECP has announced the exchange of election commissioners for Sindh and Balochistan provinces, appointing Aijaz Anwer Chohan for Balochistan and Sharifullah for Sindh.
As the country of 240 million people approaches the elections scheduled for February 8, 2024, there is heightened political activity.
The political landscape is currently marked by a tense competition between the PPP, PML-N, and PTI.
