In a recent development, the interim government of Punjab has given its nod to an interest-free loan initiative designed to benefit 11 currently serving judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC). Under this scheme, the government will extend loans equivalent to the three-year basic salaries of these judges, with a repayment period spanning up to 12 years.
According to reports, a substantial sum exceeding Rs360 million will be disbursed among the judges, considering that the standard basic salary for a judge surpasses Rs900,000.
The Lahore High Court, a significant constitutional court in Pakistan, operates under the leadership of a Chief Justice and boasts a bench comprising sixty Justices along with additional judges. It is worth noting that the retirement age for both Chief Justices and Justices within the Lahore High Court stands at 62 years
