Islamabad – Bushra Bibi, the spouse of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who is currently serving a three-year term in the Toshakhana case at Attock jail, has appealed to the Supreme Court to address the deteriorating health of her husband, emphasizing that his “life is seriously threatened.”
The former first lady submitted a sworn statement to the apex court as it considers a series of petitions filed by Imran Khan contesting his conviction and sentence. This follows a recent meeting between Bushra Bibi and the PTI chief within the confines of the jail earlier this month.
In her affidavit, she brought to the attention of the highest court her observations from the meeting with her husband. She expressed concern over a noticeable decline in Khan’s health, particularly in terms of significant weight loss. The affidavit indicated that there had been a marked reduction in muscle mass around his arms. Given his age, which is in his 70s, such a pronounced deterioration in health could pose a serious risk to his life.
The submitted affidavit stated, “Considering the overall circumstances that the deponent has witnessed, there exists a fear that the petitioner’s life is under significant threat. In light of this, the honorable court is respectfully requested to take the matter into serious consideration.”
Imran Khan, the former prime minister, has been held in Attock Jail since August 5 after receiving a three-year prison sentence in the Toshakhana case. The case revolves around the alleged misuse of a state guesthouse by past government officials. As legal proceedings continue, the concerns raised by Bushra Bibi regarding her d’s health add a new dimension to the ongoing legal saga.
