Bollywood star Huma Qureshi has expanded her repertoire by venturing into the world of literature, marking her authorial debut with the book titled “Zeba: An Accidental Superhero.”
The actress unveiled her creation during a session at the 12th edition of the Bangalore Literature Festival in the Karnataka capital. Where she shared insights into the inspiration behind her work.
Qureshi disclosed that the genesis of her fiction adventure occurred during the filming of the dystopian TV series, Leila.
The narrative unfolds across 27 years, spanning from 1992 to 2019. Within a fictional Himalayan country, incorporating its own geopolitical and sociopolitical elements.

Reflecting on the process, the actress-author expressed a sense of vulnerability. Stating, “The scariest part of writing this book was that people would know how I think.”
The plot revolves around a non-conformist woman, Zeba, who unexpectedly becomes a savior of the world.

Qureshi emphasized that the story resonates with those who defy societal norms, characterizing it as “a book for all misfits.”
Describing her characters, she remarked, “Not just Zeba, but all the characters in the book are me. They have come from my imagination and impression of the world.”
Addressing the uniqueness of her book, Qureshi shared that the novel, set very specifically between 1992 and 2019, is a fantasy fiction.
It talks about a make-believe kingdom and an evil king and how this girl, Zeba, who has these superpowers, manages to defeat him.”
The actress commenced writing during the COVID-19 lockdown, employing a stream-of-consciousness approach each morning.
Expressing aspirations for a cinematic adaptation, Qureshi stated, “I would love to convert my book into a film someday.” Emphasizing that her original plan was to create a television series.
She highlighted the personal nature of her creative endeavors, asserting, “I’m just an artist, and I think whatever opportunity I get to express my art, I would just take that up.”
In expressing her belief, she stated, “Genuine storytelling, specificity universally resonates across various forms—content, films, or books.” Scheduled to play a starring role in the upcoming film “Pooja Meri Jaan” is Qureshi.
