Al Ittihad has emerged victorious in the Saudi Pro League, securing their first title since 2009. They achieved this feat with a convincing 3-0 win over Al Feiha, surpassing Al Nassr, the team led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Al Ittihad wasted no time in taking the lead, as Ahmed Sharahili found the back of the net in the third minute. Two goals from Romarinho, one just before halftime and another near the end of the match, sealed the victory for Al Ittihad. This triumph was particularly satisfying for the Jeddah club, as they had narrowly missed out on the title on the final day of the previous season.
With 69 points, Al Ittihad now sits five points ahead of Al-Nassr, who could only manage a 1-1 draw against Al Ettifaq. This result ensures that Al Ittihad secures their ninth league title. The early goal by Sharahili, followed by Romarinho’s contributions, proved to be decisive in their quest for the championship.
The outcome also marks a significant achievement for Nuno Espirito Santo, the former coach of Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as he clinches his first top-flight league title.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s experience with Al Nassr in Dammam was frustrating once again. He was substituted in the second half as his team was held to a 1-1 draw by Al Ettifaq. Despite his arrival at the club in January, Ronaldo concludes his first season in Saudi Arabia without any silverware.
