Adidas has received remarkable orders worth 508 million euros (around $565 million) for 4 million pairs of unsold Yeezy shoes, exceeding their initial projections. This positive outcome brings relief to the company, preventing significant losses on the remaining stock.
Previously, Adidas had halted Yeezy shoe sales due to controversial remarks made by rapper Kanye West. However, the strong demand for the unsold sneakers indicates that the Yeezy brand remains unaffected by recent events.
In response to the situation, Adidas announced in May that a portion of the Yeezy sales proceeds would be donated to organizations fighting against antisemitism and racism. The company has chosen five charities in the United States and China for this purpose, and discussions are ongoing to determine the exact donation amount. Adidas is committed to making a substantial contribution from Yeezy profits to support these important causes.
