Punjab govt abolishes vacant school education posts

The Punjab government has abolished thousands of vacant positions in the School Education Department as part of its rightsizing initiative, as per the report on Tuesday.

According to official details, a total of 30,391 vacant posts have been removed from the department. The abolished positions include baildar, chowkidar, naib qasid, laboratory assistant, laboratory attendant, junior clerk, senior clerk, stenographer, accountant, computer operator, driver, sweeper, librarian, assistant librarian and several other non-teaching posts.

The decision also covers the posts of assistant director of physical education, auditor, superintendent, deputy superintendent and other vacant positions.

A notification has been issued to implement the decision. The move is aimed at reducing the government’s financial burden.
