3 consecutive holidays await many Pakistanis in August

Many people in Pakistan are set to enjoy a three-day weekend next month as Independence Day will be observed on Friday, August 14, according to the 2026 calendar.

Government employees, workers in private companies that follow a five-day workweek, and students at educational institutions operating from Monday to Friday will also have Saturday and Sunday off. This means they will get three consecutive days of holidays.

The extended weekend will not be available to everyone. Employees and students at offices and educational institutions that follow a six-day schedule from Monday to Saturday will return to work on Saturday after the public holiday on Friday. They will therefore not receive three straight days off.
