Heavy rain system expected between March 21 and 23 in Karachi

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast warning that a new spell of rain is expected to affect major cities in the coming days.

In Lahore, the skies are partly cloudy with occasional sunshine. Cool winds are keeping the weather pleasant, with the temperature at 17°C, a maximum of 22°C, and a minimum of 13°C.

Humidity remains high at 85 percent, and winds are blowing at about 5 km/h. PMD predicts scattered showers throughout the day, with partly cloudy conditions expected over the next few days.

In Karachi, the previous rainfall has ended, but another system is expected to hit the city between March 21 and 23. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Sindh reported 20 deaths and 31 injuries in recent rain-related incidents.

DG PDMA Salman Shah said Keamari lost 13 people, Malir 3, and one each in Karachi East, West, and South. Rain also damaged 79 homes across the province.

Today, Karachi is mostly sunny and clear, but PMD warns that rain may return tomorrow, bringing cooler weather. The agency also predicts rainfall in suburban areas on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Currently, Karachi’s temperature is 21°C, with a low of 19°C and a high of 27°C. Southwesterly winds are blowing at 6 km/h, and humidity is 82 percent.

Overall, meteorologists say cool breezes, cloud cover, and intermittent rain will continue across different parts of Pakistan over the next few days, providing relief from the recent warm spell.
