At least 28 people have been injured in dog attacks in Karachi’s Korangi Juma Goth area, according to local health authorities.
Dr Aftab from Gohar Trust Hospital said that during the past four days, 28 patients with dog bite injuries were brought to the hospital. The victims told doctors that the attacks were carried out by the same dog and that all those affected live in the same part of Juma Goth.
The incidents have caused alarm among residents, who fear the presence of stray and possibly rabid dogs in the area.
Karachi is facing a serious surge in dog bite cases, with reports showing 19 deaths and close to 29,000 incidents so far in 2025.
Many parts of the city are witnessing such attacks daily, spreading fear among citizens and placing a heavy burden on hospitals that are treating large numbers of patients each day.
Health experts warn that rabies is fatal once symptoms begin and say the growing number of cases is linked to poor waste disposal, which allows stray dogs to breed rapidly.
Doctors emphasize that cleaning wounds immediately and receiving vaccines on time can save lives. Meanwhile, residents are calling on authorities to take practical steps such as setting up shelters, launching vaccination drives, and improving sanitation to control the situation.
