Karachi supply chain hit as goods transport strike continues

A nationwide supply disruption has entered its third day as goods transporters continue their strike, stopping all cargo movement from Karachi to the rest of the country, according to reports. Transporters say they will not call off the protest until their Charter of Demands is accepted.

Because of the strike, unloading operations at ports, mills, factories, warehouses, and godowns have also come to a standstill.

The protest began on December 8, 2025, when Karachi’s transporters announced a wheel-jam strike against the Traffic Ordinance 2025.

Malik Shehzad Awan, President of the Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, said that only export-bound trucks and containers are being allowed to reach the port, and even those vehicles will halt after offloading in support of the strike.

He said drivers were jailed despite repeated calls to withdraw FIRs, leaving the transport community with no option but to stop operations.

Currently, heavy vehicles, including trucks, dumpers, and containers, remain parked at the Karachi Truck Stand. The strike will continue until federal, Punjab, and Sindh authorities address the transporters’ demands.
