Water supply in several areas of Karachi to remain affected during line repairs

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has started repair work on a 48-inch main water supply line at the city’s K-II Pumping Station.

According to a spokesperson, the project also includes replacing a valve on the same line, with teams working continuously in 24-hour shifts to complete the repairs within 48 hours.

During the maintenance, three of the 11 pumps at the North East Pumping Station and one pump at the Dhabeji Pumping Station have been temporarily shut down.

As a result, water supply to several areas, including Safura Town, North Nazimabad, Gulberg Town, parts of Liaquatabad, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, will be affected.

Karachi usually receives about 650 million gallons of water daily, but due to the ongoing work, the supply will drop by 150 MGD, leaving 500 MGD available for distribution.

The KWSC has urged residents to conserve water and use it wisely during the maintenance period and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
