The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rainfall in Karachi starting tomorrow (August 30) and continuing until September 2, warning of potential urban flooding during this period.
The forecast further mentions thunderstorms with rain in Islamabad from August 29 to September 2, while heavy showers are expected in several northern and north-eastern districts of Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhelum, and Mandi Bahauddin, particularly on August 30 and 31.
Last week, Karachi was severely affected by heavy rains that turned many areas into rivers, forcing authorities to use boats for rescue operations.
Over 200 millimetres of rainfall disrupted the city’s infrastructure, causing prolonged power outages, damaged roads, and flooding that mixed with sewage.
At least 15 lives were lost due to rain-related incidents, while many residents also lost their means of livelihood.
The PMD has issued a fresh alert to remind citizens to remain careful, limit unnecessary travel, and take safety precautions to avoid accidents during the upcoming spell.
