KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has ruled out the possibility of heavy rain or strong winds in Karachi on August 27, forecasting only light showers, drizzle, or scattered rainfall in parts of the city.
The PMD explained that a tropical storm near Vietnam and Laos in the Pacific Ocean is currently active. When the Pacific becomes meteorologically active, it tends to reduce weather activity in the Bay of Bengal.
As a result, the moisture that usually drives weather systems towards Pakistan is being pulled into the Pacific, weakening the system that was expected to affect Karachi and rural Sindh around August 27.
On Monday, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 31.6°C with 69% humidity, while Dadu was the hottest spot in rural Sindh at 38.5°C.
