PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that three people lost their lives and one person was injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two days.
“The deceased included two women and a child,” according to the PDMA.
The recent rainfall and flooding also caused partial damage to 19 houses, while two homes were completely destroyed. Additionally, two cattle died as a result of the weather-related events in the province.
In Punjab, PDMA has announced that the sixth spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin from August 5. District administrations have been advised to stay on high alert during this period.
Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, gave an update on the rivers’ condition, stating that the Indus River is at a low flood level at Kalabagh, Chashma, and Taunsa, while the Chenab River is also at a low flood level at Khanki headworks.
Citizens have been urged to exercise caution during the rainy season and avoid bathing or swimming in rivers, canals, streams, and drainage areas.
It is worth noting that this monsoon season has already taken a heavy toll in Punjab, with 162 lives lost and 571 people injured in various incidents. Furthermore, 214 houses have been damaged, and 121 cattle have died due to the ongoing rains.
