Lahore and several other areas of Punjab are likely to receive on-and-off showers with a few heavy downpours starting Thursday evening and continuing into Friday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that a seasonal low is currently present over northeast Balochistan.
Monsoon currents are flowing into the upper parts of the country, while a westerly wave is also active in the same region.
Given these weather conditions, intermittent rain with occasional heavy showers is expected in several districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Pakpattan, Vehari, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Lodhran from Thursday evening through Friday.
There is a possibility of flash floods in local streams and nullahs, particularly in southern Punjab, Murree and Galiyat due to heavy rainfall.
Additionally, windstorms and lightning during the rains could cause damage to old and weak structures, electric poles, billboards, parked vehicles and solar panels.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature on Friday and Saturday is expected to stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Over the past 24 hours, parts of upper and central Punjab saw showers with isolated heavy falls, while the rest of the province experienced hot and humid weather.
Recorded rainfall in millimeters includes: Gujranwala 47, Bahawalnagar 29, Sialkot City 18 and Airport 9, Jhang 18, Toba Tek Singh 14, Bhakkar 7, Narowal and Sahiwal 5 each, and Sargodha 1.
Bahawalpur was the hottest spot in Punjab with a recorded high of 41 degrees Celsius. Multan saw a maximum temperature of 38 degrees.
