Water situation improves at dams & rivers after monsoon rains

ISLAMABAD: The flow of the Indus River at Tarbela has crossed three lakh cusecs, following scattered to widespread rainfall in the river’s catchment area.

According to the latest data, the inflow at Tarbela has reached 3,33,000 cusecs, while the outflow stands at 3,32,600 cusecs. The river is currently experiencing a low flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Chashma.

At Tarbela reservoir, the water level is 1530 feet, just 20 feet below the dam’s maximum conservation limit of 1550 feet. Mangla reservoir is at 1190.70 feet, with its peak storage level at 1242 feet.

Meanwhile, the Chenab River is in medium to high flood at Marala Headworks, with an inflow of 1,13,000 cusecs and an outflow of 89,800 cusecs.

At Kalabagh, the Indus River’s inflow has been recorded at 3,11,700 cusecs, while the outflow is 3,03,000 cusecs. At Chashma, the inflow has reached 3,17,900 cusecs, with an outflow of 3,05,000 cusecs.

The river is in medium flood at Taunsa Barrage, where inflow stands at 4,29,200 cusecs and outflow at 4,23,200 cusecs.

At Guddu Barrage, the Indus is in low flood with 2,27,300 cusecs of water flowing in and 2,06,900 cusecs flowing out. Further downstream at Sukkur Barrage, the river is below low flood level, with 1,69,600 cusecs inflow and 1,24,300 cusecs outflow.

At Kotri Barrage, the Indus is carrying 1,72,800 cusecs into the barrage, while the outflow has been recorded at 1,36,300 cusecs.
