Karachi is expected to receive its first spell of monsoon rain this weekend, offering a break from the ongoing hot and humid weather, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Weather experts suggest the rain may hit the city by Saturday or Sunday, easing the intensity of the current heatwave.
For Thursday, the PMD forecasts hot and humid conditions across most parts of Sindh. However, districts like Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Khairpur, Sukkur, and Larkana could experience rainfall with gusty winds and thunderstorms.
On Friday, skies are likely to be partly cloudy across Sindh, with possible showers and thunderstorms in Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Nawabshah, Karachi, and nearby regions.
Earlier forecasts predicted the first monsoon spell in Sindh between June 25 and June 28, bringing rain to southeastern and northern areas of the province.
Expected locations include Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Kashmore, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Badin, and Karachi.
“Authorities have also issued an advisory for possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Karachi and Hyderabad, particularly on Friday, June 27, urging residents to take necessary precautions.”
