Massive petrol price increase expected soon in Pakistan

High-speed diesel (HSD) and petrol prices in Pakistan could see another sharp increase of Rs27 and Rs21 per litre, respectively, according to Arif Habib Limited, as global oil markets react to rising tensions between Israel and Iran.

If the projected hikes go into effect, petrol could be priced at Rs279–280 per litre, while HSD may rise to Rs289–290 per litre starting July 1, 2025.

The increase is tied to international trends, with Gas Oil prices jumping 9.6% and Gasoline climbing 4.5% since June 13, 2025.

As of June 20, Gas Oil reached $93.3 per barrel and Gasoline hit $83.4 per barrel.

If this trajectory continues, local fuel rates are expected to go up substantially.

Just last week, on June 15, the government raised petrol and diesel prices by Rs4.80 and Rs7.95 per liter, respectively, for the final fortnight of the fiscal year 2024–25.
