The return of the sea breeze has brought a welcome drop in humidity, offering much-needed relief and improving the city’s overall weather, according to the Meteorological Department.
The forecast suggests partly cloudy skies, with daytime temperatures likely to reach around 36°C.
At the moment, the temperature stands at 30°C, though it feels more like 33°C due to the remaining humidity in the air.
Humidity is currently at 69%, while steady westerly winds blowing at 33 km/h are contributing to the more pleasant weather.
According to weather officials, the shift in wind patterns from still, moisture-heavy air to active sea breezes has helped restore a sense of normalcy after days of stifling heat and high humidity that had left many Karachiites struggling.
Citizens welcomed the change, with many venturing outdoors to enjoy the more bearable conditions after days of staying indoors to escape the oppressive heat.
Beachgoers returned to Clifton and Hawksbay, while parks and public spaces also saw a rise in foot traffic.
Health experts, meanwhile, have urged people to remain cautious despite the improvement. “While temperatures are relatively lower, dehydration and heat exhaustion are still risks, especially during peak hours,” said Dr. Ayesha Farooqi, a general physician at Civil Hospital Karachi.
She advised people to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun between 11 am and 3 pm.
The Meteorological Department further added that the current pattern is likely to persist for the next two days, with chances of light drizzle in the early morning or late evening, particularly in coastal areas.
The return of the sea breeze is not only providing comfort to residents but is also a positive sign for the city’s power and water infrastructure, both of which come under severe pressure during heatwaves.
Lower temperatures ease the burden on electricity consumption, particularly with air conditioners and fans running at full blast during hot spells.
Officials have also advised fishermen to remain alert, as stronger-than-usual westerly winds may cause choppy conditions at sea. However, no major weather warnings have been issued at this time.
The welcome shift in Karachi’s weather serves as a reminder of how essential the sea breeze is to the city’s climate balance, without it, conditions can quickly turn severe.
