Continued rain, strong winds expected for Islamabad, Rawalpindi until Saturday

More rain, gusty winds, and occasional hailstorms are expected across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various parts of the country from Thursday to Saturday, with breaks in between.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that a westerly weather system is currently affecting most regions, bringing moisture from the Arabian Sea into the upper and central parts of the country.

Because of this system, scattered rain, strong winds, and isolated heavy downpours with chances of hail are likely in the twin cities, northeastern and eastern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, parts of Balochistan, and southeastern Sindh over the next three days.

Forecasts show that Islamabad’s daytime temperature will range between 32°C and 34°C on Friday and 31°C to 33°C on Saturday. In Rawalpindi, it’s expected to stay between 30°C and 32°C on Friday and drop slightly to 29°C–31°C on Saturday.

Over the last 24 hours, much of the country experienced hot and dry weather, although showers were reported in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, parts of Kashmir, northeast Punjab, and northern Balochistan.

These rains brought relief from the recent heat, cooling down both day and night temperatures.

Recorded Rainfall (in mm):

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Upper Dir (11), Lower Dir (8), Balakot (9), Kalam (5), Saidu Sharif (3)
  • Kashmir: Garhi Dupatta (4), Kotli (3), Rawalakot (1)
  • Punjab: Kamra (5), Sialkot Airport (2), Narowal (2), Sialkot City (trace)
  • Balochistan: Bar Khan (1)

On the other hand, extremely hot temperatures were recorded in Padidan, Dalbandin, and Nokundi at 44°C, while Jacobabad and Dadu weren’t far behind at 43°C.

Islamabad reached 36°C with a morning humidity of 67%, while Rawalpindi saw 34°C and a morning humidity of 55%.
