Rain and strong winds are expected across multiple regions of Pakistan today, including upper Sindh, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Some areas of Balochistan may also receive scattered showers, while isolated thunderstorms could form later in the day, according to the report.

Despite the rainy forecast, high temperatures continued to affect much of the country over the last 24 hours.

Turbat was the hottest at 45°C, followed by 44°C in Dadu, Jacobabad, Sibi, and Mohenjo-Daro. Karachi, Multan, and Sahiwal recorded 37°C, Peshawar 35°C, Islamabad and Quetta 33°C, and Muzaffarabad and Gilgit 29°C.

In Punjab, recent storms and strong winds helped break a persistent heatwave, offering residents much-needed relief. The PMD expects the rainy conditions to continue through the day.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of an increased risk of lightning during this weather shift.

Rain and winds have already swept through cities like Lahore and Islamabad, easing weeks of sweltering heat.

Many residents welcomed the showers. In Lahore, temperatures fell significantly, dropping to 22°C overnight with highs around 32°C expected.
