The event also commemorated 60 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Hungary.

Both sides signed several memoranda of understanding (MOUs) focused on boosting collaboration in trade, industry, and cultural exchange, while reaffirming their commitment to peace in the region.

Dar praised Hungary’s support in developing Pakistan’s industrial sector, especially through contributions from the Mughal Group, and referred to Hungary as a “positive and reliable partner.”

The ministers also addressed key regional issues, including the security situation in Afghanistan and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Dar provided an update on Pakistan’s border security concerns and ongoing diplomatic efforts, while both leaders agreed on the urgent need for peace in the Middle East.

Szijjártó acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and expressed Hungary’s solidarity with its peace efforts. He also mentioned Hungary’s desire for peace in Ukraine and the broader region.

Speaking about the scholarship programme, Szijjártó shared that around 1,700 Pakistani students had already applied for the 400 available slots.

He emphasized Hungary’s interest in deepening people-to-people connections through academic exchanges, cultural projects, and professional cooperation.

This visit and the newly signed agreements highlight a growing partnership between Pakistan and Hungary, grounded in shared values and mutual goals across education, trade, and regional security.
