The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has sealed 1,415 illegal treatment centres across the province as part of its ongoing campaign against quackery.
During the past six weeks, the commission’s Anti-Quackery Department carried out 6,380 raids across Punjab to crack down on unauthorised, unqualified and unsafe medical practices.
As a result of the enforcement campaign, 1,153 illegal treatment centres that were actively operating were sealed.

The inspection teams also visited 72 centres that had already been sealed, 43 facilities that were revisited after closure, 62 premises abandoned by quacks, 118 cases involving tampered seals, 10 unregistered treatment centres and four outlets that had previously been sealed by district health authorities.
A PHC spokesperson said the teams also found 143 treatment centres operating under legitimate and qualified healthcare practitioners during the raids.
Meanwhile, the commission has placed 4,068 treatment centres under surveillance to ensure that medical services are only being provided by qualified and legally authorised practitioners.
The crackdown also resulted in the closure, relocation or conversion of 376 treatment centres into other types of businesses following action by the commission.
