KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday forecast light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and dust storms in some areas of Sindh on June 1, bringing a possibility of relief after several days of extreme heat across the province.
According to the department, weather patterns influenced by intense heat and westerly winds over northern parts of the country may cause thunderstorms in Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu, Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts.
“Despite the rain forecast, heatwave conditions were expected to persist across most districts of Sindh until Saturday,” the PMD said.
The department stated that maximum temperatures in Kashmore, Khairpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad and Naushahro Feroze are likely to remain between 47°C and 50°C.
“In Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro and Sanghar, temperatures are expected to reach between 44°C and 47°C,” it added.
