The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted widespread rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms in various parts of the country from July 27 to 31, with chances of heavy showers in some areas.
The department has also warned of potential flash floods, urban flooding, and landslides in regions prone to such risks.
At present, weak monsoon winds are affecting the upper and central areas of Pakistan and are expected to strengthen starting July 28. A western weather system is also likely to move in by July 29, adding intensity to the expected rainfall.
Rain with isolated heavy showers is likely in parts of Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and Mirpur, as well as in Gilgit-Baltistan areas like Skardu, Astore, and Hunza, from July 27 through July 31.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain and thunderstorms are expected between July 28 and 31 in districts such as Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Peshawar.
Punjab and Islamabad are forecast to receive rain, with some heavy downpours between July 28 and 31, especially in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Sialkot.
Southern Punjab, including DG Khan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, may see rainfall from July 29 to 31.
Northeastern and southern parts of Balochistan, such as Quetta, Barkhan, and Zhob, could receive rain starting the night of July 29 until July 31.
In Sindh, hot and humid conditions will continue, but showers are expected on July 30 and 31 in districts like Tharparkar, Sanghar, Sukkur, and Larkana.
The PMD has alerted residents that heavy rains could lead to flash flooding in mountainous streams in areas like Chitral and Swat.
Urban flooding may occur in low-lying parts of Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Sialkot, while the risk of landslides and mudslides remains high in hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, and Kashmir.
Strong winds and lightning could damage fragile structures such as mud houses, power poles, solar panels, and billboards.
Citizens, tourists, and travellers are advised to remain cautious, stay updated on the latest weather conditions, and avoid unnecessary travel to risk-prone areas.
The PMD has advised authorities to stay alert and implement safety measures where needed. Weather updates can be found on the PMD’s official website and the Pak Weather mobile app.
