KARACHI: Authorities in Sindh have demolished illegal constructions of Bahria Town in Jamshoro following directives from the Anti-Encroachment Tribunal Hyderabad.
The tribunal declared that the 893-acre land occupied by Bahria Town was privately owned and not public property.
Acting on this decision, revenue authorities carried out a demolition drive during the nights of September 20 and 21, removing all unauthorized structures, including housing units and multi-story buildings.
This is not the first time Bahria Town has faced such action. Earlier this year, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sealed hundreds of its properties in Karachi, Lahore, Takhte Parri, New Murree Golf City, and Islamabad over allegations of illegal land occupation.
NAB has also been probing multiple fraud cases against Bahria Town owner Malik Riaz Ahmed and his associates, freezing several bank accounts and seizing vehicles.
Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to bring Malik Riaz back from abroad, where funds linked to one of his Dubai projects were reportedly being transferred.
The crackdown has raised concerns for Bahria Town residents, who may lose their properties as investigations intensify.
NAB has reiterated its commitment to holding those involved in fraudulent activities accountable while keeping the public updated on the proceedings against Bahria Town’s management.
