Pakistan’s passport among world’s weakest in 2025 index

Pakistan’s passport has once again ranked among the weakest globally, placing fourth from the bottom in the Henley Passport Index 2025, ahead of only Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq.

The ranking, released on Tuesday, is based on the number of destinations a passport holder can travel to without needing a visa in advance.

The index uses data from the International Air Transport Association and covers 227 destinations worldwide.

At the top of the list, Singapore remained the most powerful passport, offering visa-free entry to 193 places.

Japan and South Korea came in second with access to 190 countries, while Germany, France, and Spain tied for third, each offering access to 189 destinations.

Among countries that showed notable improvement, the United Arab Emirates climbed to 8th place, giving its citizens access to 184 countries.

The UAE has jumped 34 places over the last ten years, making it the fastest-rising passport in the index.

On the other hand, traditional powerhouses like the United States and the United Kingdom continued to slide.

The UK now ranks 6th, offering access to 186 countries, while the US has dropped to 10th and barely holds its spot among the top 10.

India also made strong progress, moving up eight positions to 77th place, while Saudi Arabia climbed to 54th after gaining visa-free access to four more countries.
