Pakistan weather update: Fresh Rain spell to hit Northern regions

ISLAMABAD: Light to moderate monsoon rains, along with gusty winds, are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other regions of Pakistan on Sunday night and Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, moisture from the Arabian Sea is making its way into the southern areas of the country and is expected to reach the northern parts later tonight.

A low-pressure system is currently situated over Sindh and nearby areas of Balochistan, while a westerly wave is forecast to move into northern regions by Monday.

Given these weather patterns, scattered rainfall with occasional heavy showers is likely in the twin cities, parts of Sindh, southern and northeastern Punjab, north and south Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir during Sunday night and Monday.

In Islamabad, the daytime temperature is expected to range between 35°C and 37°C on Monday and Tuesday, and between 34°C and 36°C on Wednesday. Similar temperatures are expected in Rawalpindi.

Over the last 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in parts of Sindh, with Mohenjo-Daro receiving the highest amount at 86mm, followed by Larkana with 72mm.

Other areas like Hyderabad, Sakrand, Sukkur, and Jacobabad also received moderate rainfall. Light rain was reported in Punjab’s Sialkot and Balochistan’s Lasbella.

Dalbandin and Nokkundi were the hottest spots in the country, both recording temperatures as high as 46°C, while Chilas saw a maximum of 45°C.

In Islamabad, the highest temperature recorded was 36°C, with evening humidity at 66 percent. Rawalpindi also experienced a high of 36°C, and its evening humidity stood at 56 percent.
