The Sindh government has decided to introduce dedicated bus routes under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and start a new People’s Bus Service route connecting Larkana and Qambar to strengthen public transport across the province.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials reviewed the progress of ongoing transport projects and discussed upcoming initiatives, including electric buses, EV taxis, double-decker buses, and the Green Line and Orange Line services.
Under the PPP model, modern air-conditioned electric buses will operate on exclusive routes. These routes will be offered to private investors through a competitive bidding process as part of the government’s plan to improve public transport while attracting private sector investment.

Sharjeel Memon directed officials to launch the Larkana-Qambar People’s Bus Service as soon as possible. He said the new route would provide better travel facilities and help boost economic activity between the two districts.
Officials also updated the meeting on the EV taxi project, saying consultations with stakeholders are continuing. The minister said Karachi will soon receive an environmentally friendly EV taxi service.
The meeting was informed that daily ridership on the Green Line BRT has increased from 50,000 to 81,000 passengers. Meanwhile, the Orange Line’s daily passenger count has grown from 1,800 to 9,800, showing a steady rise in the use of public transport services.
Sharjeel Memon also instructed authorities to take strict action against the misuse of Pink electric scooters. He warned that unauthorized users would face legal action, while scooters being used by men or those whose color had been changed to avoid identification would be confiscated.
