Roti and bakery prices rise in Lahore

Prices of everyday food items have risen in Lahore as local bakeries and vendors increased the price of roti from Rs15–16 to Rs20 in different parts of the city. This adds to the burden on consumers already struggling with rising food costs.

In addition to the bread price increase, bakery items have seen a second hike within two weeks. Several branded products have become more expensive by Rs10 to Rs20.

According to the new rates, a large packet of rusk now costs Rs250 after a Rs20 increase, while a small packet is priced at Rs. 150 following a similar rise.

Bakarkhani (double pack) has also gone up by Rs20, bringing its price to Rs120. A small plain cake is now Rs100 after a Rs10 hike, and a large cake costs Rs220 following a Rs20 increase.

Other bakery items have also become costlier. Medium bread (500 grams) now sells for Rs160 after a Rs10 increase, and brown bread (340 grams) has risen from Rs160 to Rs170. Various other bakery products have also gone up by Rs5 to Rs10.

The continuous rise in essential food prices has heightened concerns over inflation and its effect on household budgets.
