Heavy rain in Karachi has caused major disruptions to both electricity and gas supply across the city. Hundreds of power feeders went down, leaving many areas without electricity for long hours.
Reports say that more than 700 feeders of K-Electric were affected during the rainfall. Water entering substations made the situation worse and added to the power outages. In some places, damaged wires and faulty transformers mounted on poles also led to interruptions.
Several areas have been hit by these outages, including Sultanabad, Landhi, Korangi, Saudabad, and Shah Faisal. Residents in Kathore, Gadap, Orangi Town, Manghopir, and the SITE industrial area are also facing similar problems.
Power supply has been affected in New Karachi, Surjani, Garden, Scheme 33, FB Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, and Korangi as well. Other localities such as Sher Shah, Baldia, Ittehad Town, and Moach Goth are also dealing with outages during the ongoing rain.
At the same time, the gas supply has also been disrupted. The system run by Sui Southern Gas Company has been under pressure since the afternoon. Many homes, hotels, and industrial zones are experiencing low gas pressure or complete outages. According to sources, the issue is linked to reduced availability of gas in the system.
