The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to begin construction of two new underpasses in Islamabad next month as part of efforts to improve traffic flow and make commuting easier for residents.
The announcement was made by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi while chairing a meeting at CDA headquarters to review ongoing and planned development projects in the federal capital. He said work on the Kashmir Chowk Underpass and the Faisal Mosque Underpass will start next month.
During the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi voiced concern over the lack of a fully operational Emergency 1122 system in Islamabad. He directed officials to establish the Capital Emergency Services on a priority basis and begin work on four new emergency centers after completing the necessary legal requirements.

The meeting also discussed proposals aimed at increasing CDA’s permanent sources of revenue. Mohsin Naqvi instructed officials to prepare a sustainable revenue model to improve the authority’s financial stability while supporting its development projects.
He further directed officials to complete the Expressway Service Road Project within the approved deadline. Officials also briefed the meeting on the progress of major development schemes and future planning for the capital.
