Govt revises gas timings in Karachi due to shortage

The ongoing situation in the Middle East has started to impact energy supplies in Karachi, leading to reduced gas availability in the city. SSGC has cut down gas supply hours, and residents will now receive gas for only 11 hours in a day.

According to sources, a shortage of RLNG has put pressure on the system, which has led to a slight change in gas supply timings.

Under the new schedule, gas will be available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This means there will be no gas supply for the remaining 13 hours of the day.

Karachi’s daily gas demand is over 1,100 MMCFD, while the current supply stands at around 800 MMCFD. Officials say that due to the shortfall, gas will be provided mainly during meal times so households can manage basic cooking needs.
