LAHORE: A sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail application of YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, in a case related to illegal gambling apps.
The hearing was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Sajida Chaudhry. During the proceedings, the prosecutor argued that Ducky Bhai had served as a brand ambassador for a banned gambling app and actively promoted it, which allegedly led to financial losses for many people.
He further claimed that evidence of money laundering was found during the probe, and the accused failed to justify the income earned through the app.
The defense lawyer countered that no complainant or eyewitness had appeared in the case, and no gambling app was recovered from his client. He added that the relevant PECA section was wrongly applied.
He further argued that if the apps were illegal, it was the duty of the PTA or concerned authorities to block them, pointing out that when the FIR was registered, the PTA had neither banned nor declared the apps unlawful.
The National Cyber Investigation Agency had earlier filed the case against Ducky Bhai for promoting gambling apps. He remains in judicial custody.
