The federal government on Sunday raised the price of high-speed diesel by Rs5.16 per litre and petrol by Rs8 per litre for the next 15 days, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.
The new prices will be effective from March 1, 2026, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority. Officials said the increase comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East that have caused uncertainty in global commodity markets. The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday, a development that could further push fuel prices upward in the country.
Under the revised rates, the price of high-speed diesel has been set at Rs280.86 per litre, compared to the earlier rate of Rs275.7 per litre.
The government also fixed the price of motor spirit at Rs266.17 per litre for the coming fortnight.
The notification stated that the updated fuel prices will stay in effect for 15 days, after which they will be reviewed again based on market conditions.
