Young students forced to work outside at govt school during heatwave

A disturbing incident at Government Girls High School Moti Bazar in Wazirabad has drawn widespread public anger after young students were seen performing manual labour during school hours.

Children from second and third grades were allegedly made to unload a trolley full of mud under the blazing sun, far from the activities they should be engaged in at school.

Videos circulating on social media show the young girls, in uniform, struggling with the heavy task, prompting outrage from citizens and child rights advocates who called it an obvious case of child exploitation.

School officials defended the decision, claiming that the regular workers were absent and only a small amount of mud was moved by students. “Only a small amount of mud was handled by the students because the workers were on leave,” an official said.

Still, locals and eyewitnesses condemned the act, stressing that schools are meant to educate, not exploit. “This is not what schools are meant for. These children should be in classrooms learning, not being used for physical labour,” said a resident who recorded the incident.

The event has reignited calls for stronger monitoring of schools and better protection of children’s rights, particularly in government-run institutions where such violations too often go unnoticed.
