WSSP disposes of 9,500 tonnes of waste during Eid cleanup

The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) has wrapped up a successful special cleanliness drive conducted over the three days of Eid-ul-Adha in the provincial capital.

As part of the effort, streets throughout the city were cleaned and washed using a mixture of rose water and chlorine to ensure hygiene and a pleasant environment.

A WSSP spokesperson shared that more than 3,500 workers were involved in the campaign, during which over 9,500 tons of waste were collected and properly disposed of.

To manage the large-scale cleanup, 707 small and large vehicles were deployed to collect animal waste from all parts of Peshawar. Chief Executive Officer Yasir Ali Khan personally visited various neighborhoods to assess the progress.

Along with waste management, WSSP also ensured a steady supply of clean drinking water and promptly addressed public complaints during Eid.

Once the waste was cleared, roads and designated collection areas were cleaned further with lime and disinfectant sprays, with continuous monitoring to maintain cleanliness.

CEO Yasir Ali Khan urged citizens to “cooperate by placing animal waste in plastic bags and leaving them outside their homes or at designated collection points, instead of dumping them in streets or alleys.”

This effort underscores WSSP’s dedication to keeping the city clean and safe during one of the busiest times of the year.
