Windstorms, rainfall expected to continue across many cities in Pakistan

The Met Office has forecast windstorms and rain-thunderstorms with possible hail in the upper and central parts of Pakistan this week, as moist air continues to flow into the region and a westerly system is expected to move in on May 28.

From the evening of May 27 to May 31, weather disturbances, including isolated heavy rain and hail, are likely in areas such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and several districts across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Swat, and Waziristan.

Meanwhile, parts of Balochistan and southern Punjab, including Zhob, D.G. Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur, may also experience windstorms and light to moderate rain from May 27 to May 30.

“Windstorm/dust-thunderstorm/hailstorm and lightning may damage loose structures like electric poles, trees, vehicles, and solar panels, etc in upper/central parts, including Islamabad.”

Farmers are advised to adjust field activities accordingly, and the public, travellers, and tourists are urged to take safety precautions during this period.
