Transporters suspend Karachi protest after govt assures action

Goods transporters in Karachi ended their protest on Monday. They reached an agreement with the Sindh government. The government had two days to meet their demands. The protest had blocked major roads in Karachi.

Containers were placed on Mai Kolachi Road for security. Traffic police took these preventive measures. Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon led the talks. He met with transport union leaders. Both sides discussed key issues.

Transporters presented their demands. The government promised quick action. This assurance satisfied protesters for now. Shehzad Awan announced the end of the protest. He spoke at the demonstration site. But he set a two-day deadline.

“If demands aren’t met, we’ll act again,” Awan warned. Past protests have hurt Karachi’s supply chains. Transporters play a vital economic role. The meeting included major transport groups.

Nisar Jafri and Ghulam Niazi represented them. Their concerns were heard. This protest showed transporters’ bargaining power. The government acted fast to avoid disruptions. Karachi’s economy relies heavily on smooth transportation.
