Pakistan issued a strong rejection on Thursday in response to Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks about Pakistan. These comments included a nuclear weapon discussion during his visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K).
The Pakistani Foreign Office labelled the statements as “Irresponsible,” claiming they revealed New Delhi’s deep rooted insecurity and frustration over Pakistan’s credible defence posture.
In an official statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan directly criticised Singh’s remarks, stating they reflected “A profound sense of insecurity and frustration regarding Pakistan’s effective deterrence capabilities.”
He emphasised that Pakistan’s conventional military strength alone is sufficient to repel any potential Indian aggression without, as he put it, succumbing to India’s “Self inflicted nuclear hysteria.”
Khan further accused the Indian minister of displaying “A clear lack of understanding” of the role and responsibilities of international institutions such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The exchange highlights the ongoing strain in bilateral relations and lets the people inside and outside the nation witness the sensitive nature of nuclear discourses in the continent of South Asia.
