Karachi: It is mandatory for all newly purchased cars and other vehicles in Sindh to must be registered on time with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department to avoid penalties or legal trouble.
The Sindh Excise Department handles the vehicle registration process throughout the province. This step ensures that every vehicle is officially documented and identifiable.
To register a vehicle, owners are required to submit documents including proof of ownership, a valid CNIC, and the sales invoice.
After these documents are verified, the department issues a registration number and certificate. This process helps in maintaining road safety, keeping vehicle records, and preventing vehicle theft.
Registration Fee for Vehicles up to 1000cc
In the previous budget for the fiscal year 2024–25, the Sindh government updated the registration fees. These rates are still in effect.
Currently, the fee for registering a 1000cc vehicle such as Suzuki Cultus, Alto, Kia Picanto, and similar models is 1 percent of the vehicle’s value.
It has not yet been confirmed whether this fee structure will be changed in the upcoming budget for the next fiscal year.
