Summer vacation in Punjab schools postponed

The Punjab government has delayed summer holidays in public schools by a day to ensure full participation in Youm-e-Takbeer commemorations, as per an official notice issued on May 27, 2025.

Originally set to begin on May 28, the holidays will now start on May 29. Schools across the province will remain open on May 28 to mark Pakistan’s nuclear milestone with a series of planned activities.

The School Education Department has instructed all District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs to hold special events in schools on Youm-e-Takbeer.

The day will begin with a morning assembly including the national anthem, prayers, and a tribute to the Pakistan Army. Schools will also host district-level competitions, including:

  • Speeches on the importance of Youm-e-Takbeer and Pakistan’s nuclear status.
  • Art and poster-making contests.
  • Milli Naghmay (national song) performances.

Students who win these competitions at the district level will receive a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Schools have been encouraged to actively engage in the day’s activities, highlighting messages of peace, patriotism, and scientific advancement.

Following the conclusion of these events, summer break will officially commence on May 29.
