Strict Muharram security top priority: DC

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Imran Ali chaired a meeting of the District Peace Committee (DPC) on Monday to review preparations for ensuring peace and security during the holy month of Muharram.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Salmun Ayub, members of the DPC, and officials from various departments involved in maintaining public order.

The DC emphasized that ensuring peace throughout Muharram is a top priority for the district administration, and all available resources would be used to meet this goal.

He called on citizens from all sects to support the administration’s efforts in maintaining harmony and ensuring that Ashura is observed peacefully.

He also instructed officials to implement strong security measures for both religious gatherings (Majalis) and the routes of mourning processions.

The DC mentioned that input from religious scholars would be considered carefully to help maintain peace, and that control rooms would be set up at tehsil level to keep close watch during the month.

Additionally, he said the majalis and procession routes would be closely monitored with the help of CCTV cameras.
