Speaking at a flag-hoisting ceremony at the New Sindh Secretariat for Pakistan’s National Day of Gratitude, commemorating the country’s successful response to Indian hostilities, Shah paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the armed forces.

He emphasized that “defending the homeland is the primary duty of every citizen” and praised the armed forces’ strong, united reaction, along with the people of Sindh for their patriotism and resilience.

Shah also acknowledged the important role Sindh’s youth play in protecting the nation and reiterated the province’s firm support for the armed forces against external threats, affirming that Sindh remains vigilant against hostile intentions and united in defending national interests.

Answering a media question, he noted that the day’s events were part of a wider national observance led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He also mentioned plans to pay respects at the Martyrs’ Monument in Malir Cantonment and attend a special session at the Sindh Assembly focused on national unity and Pakistan’s defensive victory.

Regarding the upcoming provincial budget, Shah said it is being prepared under the guidance of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari, with key focuses on clean drinking water, sanitation, solar energy, healthcare, education, and rebuilding flood-damaged infrastructure.

Despite economic challenges linked to IMF agreements, he assured that the government aims to deliver a budget that meets public needs and supports welfare.
