Believers will gather in mosques to offer special prayers to seek the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. Religious scholars would discuss the incident of Mairaj, discussing its importance in the teachings of Islam.
Mosques and community centers will host special prayers and gatherings (Mahafil) to honor this blessed night, while homes, streets, and buildings will be decorated with flags, candles, and colorful lights to mark the occasion with festive spirit.
Shab-e-Mairaj is observed annually on the 27th night of the Islamic lunar month of Rajab-ul-Murajab. The term “Mairaj” comes from the Arabic word “Urooj,” meaning ascension.
This night commemorates the miraculous journey of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), where he ascended to the heavens to meet Allah (SWT).
It was during this journey that the five daily prayers (Salah) were made obligatory for all Muslims. Also known as the Night of Ascension, Shab-e-Mairaj is one of the most significant events in Islamic history.
It marks the Prophet’s extraordinary journey from the Kaaba in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and then to the highest heavens.
The night is regarded as a time for deep spiritual reflection and seeking divine mercy. Muslims believe it is a moment of abundant blessings and forgiveness, making it a cherished occasion in the Islamic calendar.
