Revealed: Expected dates for Eid-ul-Adha 2025 in UAE

Astronomers in the UAE predict that Eid-ul-Adha 2025 will fall on Friday, June 6, based on lunar observations.

The Emirates Astronomy Society expects the crescent moon marking Dhul Hijjah’s start to appear on May 27, making May 28 the first day of the Islamic month.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the society’s chairman, stated that the moon’s visibility supports this projection.

According to the UAE’s public holiday calendar, the break for Arafat Day and Eid-ul-Adha will last from Dhul Hijjah 9 to 12, potentially giving residents a four-day weekend if Eid falls on a Friday.

Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Eid-ul-Adha is expected on Saturday, June 7, pending confirmation by the official moon sighting committee.

Different countries will determine their Eid dates based on local moon sightings, leading to slight variations.

Eid-ul-Adha, also called the Festival of Sacrifice, honors Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion when he was willing to sacrifice his son before Allah provided a ram in his place.

The festival is observed with special prayers, Qurbani (animal sacrifice), charity, and gatherings where families share meals and celebrate together, fostering unity and compassion within the Muslim community.
